Sandra Overend hits out at Sinn Fein failure on Education in Mid Ulster

Sandra Overend, the Conservatives and Unionists candidate for Mid-Ulster has hit out at the abject failure of Sinn Fein with regard to Education in Mid-Ulster

Sandra said;

"Whilst I fully understand that Education is a devolved matter and the responsibility lies with Catriona Ruane the Education Minister at Stormont, numerous constituents have raised Education with me as an issue on the doorstep.

There is no question that Mid-Ulster has fared very badly under this Sinn Fein Education Minister, and the delays in rebuilding Magherafelt Nursery and Primary Schools have been a cause of particular concern for parents and pupils alike. I am in complete agreement with those parents and teachers who are disappointed that the Nursery and Primary Schools are not included in the announcement that the Education Minister made today. Plans were made years ago which stated that the new school buildings should be completed by now, however, the Minister is failing to recognise the real need that exists here in Magherafelt. Our children deserve a first class education system provided in first class surroundings.

If elected I will work closely with the local MLAs and Councillors to ensure that Education in Mid-Ulster remains a priority and that local people and their children receive the Education system which they deserve.

It is perfectly clear that the people of Mid-Ulster have not been served well by an abstentionist Sinn Fein MP and a local Education Minister from that same party.

This really is the time to vote for change."
