I applaud all those Unionists who turned out to vote

Sandra Overend, Ulster Conservatives & Unionists Candidate in Mid-Ulster has expressed her appreciation to all 4509 voters in Mid-Ulster who came out yesterday to place their 'X' against the Ulster Conservatives & Unionists and 'Overend'.

Sandra said,

"Unfortunately here in Mid-Ulster the man that has been elected as Member of Parliament will do nothing to represent the interests of the Mid-Ulster people in the House of Commons. The figures are stacked against unionists here in Mid-Ulster and so I applaud all those unionists who turned out to vote.

"Thank you to everyone who gave me their support. Turnout decreased in Mid-Ulster by over 10% from the last Westminster election to 63% which seems understandable considering the current apathy surrounding politics at the current time. However, I am pleased to be able to say that the Ulster Unionist vote actually rose slightly to 11% of the overall vote.

We ran a positive campaign in Mid-Ulster and worked tirelessly to reach our message out to unionists right across the constituency.

I also praise all those members of the campaign team from all parts of Mid-Ulster, who committed day and night to talk to constituents and to deliver our message. - Thank you one and all for your support! Let me also thank all those local people who visually supported the campaign by appearing in my literature.

I thoroughly enjoyed the campaign, talking to new friends and old and I know that our work in this campaign is yet another building block for Ulster Unionism in the future.

My appreciation also to the print and radio media for delivering the Conservatives & Unionists manifesto to the people of Mid-Ulster.

I assure the people of Mid-Ulster, Ulster Unionism shall take your support forward, listen to your views and with your help build upon this support for the future of unionism in Mid-Ulster."
